The 2024 edition of the tanz_house festival is here and once again it is a celebration of creativity!
But not only – it is also a celebration of an art collective that has been built up over the past 25 years and acts as a platform to bring Salzburg's contemporary dance scene and its many up-and-coming artists into focus.
These artists are revolutionising space, trying out new ways to be on stage, looking for new narratives, angles and perspectives to present their work. They seek language and means to communicate with the world through their art - defying gravity, existing infrastructures and geo-political decisions on the way. The audience witnessing these actions might be watching from below, from the street, from within a closed cube or from a circle surrounding the performance.
Many of the pieces deal with themes such as care and connection – a possible reflection of the feelings and sensations that our society evokes today. How can we create fertile ground on which humanity and the world may thrive? How can we continually produce work that relate to the world we live in? That makes us think about our surroundings and question contemporary issues?
Our wish for this festival is to create a mindful space where you can come to us and talk about your experiences and what the pieces trigger in you. At the ARGE or just outside, surrounded by South American rhythms, intimate voices or hypnotising house beats, we can have a conversation at any time.
The tanz_house festival will continue to support new artists by facilitating residencies, studies, research and performances. »
